使用基因编缉技术删除Dmd基因外显子，建立Dmd基因敲除小鼠模型。进行性肌营养不良小鼠模型，杜氏肌营养不良症小鼠模型。表现出进行性四肢近端骨骼肌萎缩无力、小腿腓肠肌假性肥大为特征，同时累及心肌和呼吸肌，并可在发病早期死亡，这种疾病同时也影响了部分中枢神经系统和器官的发育。杜氏肌营养不良症(Duchenne muscular dystrophy，DMD)属于X连锁隐性遗传病。DMD基因编码了一个较大的棒状细胞骨架蛋白，主要分布在骨骼和心肌肌纤维内表面，抗肌萎缩蛋白有助于肌肉纤维在收缩过程中保持其完整性和弹性，是肌营养不良蛋白复合体的组成部分，为维持细胞的结构起到非常重要的桥梁作用。该基因在人类中的突变可致Duchenne型和Becker型肌营养不良症。
