使用基因编缉技术删除Lepr基因exons，建立Lepr基因敲除小鼠模型。DBDB小鼠（diabetes mouse）是Ⅱ型糖尿病模型，B6背景，可用于小鼠瘦素信号通路异常引起的肥胖症、糖尿病、内分泌缺陷、神经的代谢调节异常、免疫和炎症、肝肾疾病的研究。表现肥胖，表现出多饮、多食和多尿的现象。出生后两周，血浆胰岛素和血糖也开始升高，表现为2型糖尿病（diabetes mellitus type 2，T2DM）。雄性纯合子不育，雌性纯合子因肥胖，后期子宫、卵巢的重量下降，卵巢激素分泌也降低，也出现不孕。
