1961年5月中国医学科学院输血和血液研究所用昆明种白化雌鼠和从前苏联引进的雄性C57BL近交系黑色小鼠杂交，然后用杂交第一代进行同胞兄妹交配，连续20代以上培育成功的棕色小鼠，根据建立的年月命名为615小鼠。广泛用于抗癌药物的筛选，同时还应用于肿瘤免疫研究。对津638白血病病毒敏感，用于白血病等研究。
